About The Blended Mama

When I introduce myself, it always feels like one big, long, run-on sentence. I’ll try to break it down into grammatically correct sections though. I’m a wife to DJ, mom of two teenagers, stepmom of four teenagers, and fur-mama to a dog and a cat. I work a full-time job as an engineer. I am thankful to be able to do my job remotely at home while my two kiddos attend online school. We also own a local bakery here in Lexington, SC. We started as a home-based bakery, expanded to a food truck, and then opened our storefront location…right at the beginning of a pandemic. So yeah, that’s been fun!

As a blended family, we have been through some challenging times, including the current season that we are in. I won’t lie and say that it’s easy. Blended family issues add stress to our marriage and our family as a whole. One thing we have always relied on is our faith in God and our belief that He has a plan for us, even when we don’t understand it. We are passionate about healthy marriages and healthy families, and keeping our own marriage healthy is our top priority. With all that we have going on in our lives, this obviously takes work and coordination.

My husband and I are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to personalities. I am an introvert (albeit, a social introvert) while he tends to be more extroverted. I like organization and planning; he likes to fly by the seat of his pants. Cooking is a chore to me; it’s a stress-reliever for him. I like to visit with friends regularly; he’s a homebody. One thing that we can agree on though is that we need to be intentional with our time – the time we spend on our marriage, the time we spend with our family, and the time we spend on our businesses.

I was introduced to Tula XII products by a friend in early 2021, though I was adamant I was only attending her workshop to support her but I was NOT going to be purchasing anything. Well, that turned into me purchasing a planner that would help me run my existing business better…and before my order even arrived, I had already signed up to be an Independent Tula XII Brand Ambassador. So much for that resolve, right? I was only joining to save money on my own purchases as I could see how helpful it was going to be and knew I’d be ordering more. Just a few months later, I attended my first Leader Retreat. What happened to that Discount Diva??

Clearly, the products were helping me. I found that they made me more intentional about doing the daily habits that help me find calm in the chaos of this life. I am a Type-A, Enneagram 1 personality, and I was feeling overwhelmed by life. The stresses of everything had hit me like a ton of bricks and I was not coping well. I was short-tempered with my kids, distant from my husband, and withdrawn from my friends. Honestly, I was almost to where I was after my separation from my ex-husband…I was just surviving…doing what I had to do to get through the day. This company and the team of ladies that I joined helped me realize that I needed to adjust my priorities and gave me the tools to help me do that.

While I definitely still have days of feeling overwhelmed, I have systems and processes to fall back on when that happens. When I am consistent in using my planners, life just runs more smoothly. I still have curve balls thrown at me, but I am able to respond much better because I have a clear picture of what the impacts will be.

I love sharing what has worked for me in helping me find calm in the chaos of life, and would love to connect with you personally. Use the link below to receive my personal tips for finding calm in the chaos of life directly in your inbox. I hope to hear from you soon!
