ANNOUNCEMENT: So earlier in the year, we stated we were going to make several exciting announcements. Well today is the BIG one. We are so excited to share that we feel it is time to open a full service bakery and coffee shop in the Downtown Lexington area. Our goal is to be the go-to shop for all things baked and brewed. We want to create an atmosphere that people can come and relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book, or surf the net while enjoying Made From Scratch products.
This is where you come in. We need your help to get there. Starting today, we are starting a fundraising campaign to raise $275,000. Yes it seems like a lot but that amount will help us get into a building and do the required remodels to comply with local laws and regulations, purchase equipment, and set us up to be your local bakery. Did you know a simple oven to bake breads, cakes and pastries can reach into the $10,000 mark? Whoa! As a small business, we just don’t have those kinds of funds lying around. Would you help us out? You can do that several ways:
1. Donate through Go Fund Me.
2. Purchase products at our weekly market and “Up the charge” from your order.
3. Donate to us directly during our weekly Markets.
Every little bit helps and gets us one step closer to providing our products to you on a daily basis.
For those who know me personally, you know this is a HUGE leap of faith for me. I’m the kind of person who wants to know with evidence and proof that things will be ok before I take a step in a new direction. Opening up a home-based bakery had its own risks, but was manageable. The overhead was low, we don’t carry much inventory of ingredients, and we control how much or how little we participate in events. But opening up a storefront? That’s a whole other level… But God’s word says:
“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”Hebrews 11:1 NLT
My engineer brain can’t “see” how all of this is going to work out, but my faith says that it is possible. We believe God has given us this vision for our business and for our family. Yes, it’s still a family business, and it will drastically affect all of our lives. This will be an investment of time and resources, and we will have to sacrifice some things to make this happen. But, we are excited about the possibilities and hope that you will join us in making this dream a reality for us and for our community.
