Feeling Stuck? Here’s How to Get Back Into Motion
We’ve all been there — staring at our planner with zero motivation, wondering where our energy or creativity disappeared to. Whether it’s been a few days, a few weeks, or even longer, feeling stuck happens to everyone.
But here’s the good news: momentum isn’t something you have to wait for. It’s something you can create.
🌀 Step 1: Pause the Pressure
Before you try to push yourself forward, stop and ask:
“What do I need right now?”
Sometimes we stay stuck because we’re burnt out, overwhelmed, or distracted by things we think we should be doing. Give yourself permission to pause and reconnect with your actual priorities — not just the ones shouting the loudest.
Take a breath. Grab some water. And give yourself 5 minutes to reset.
🔍 Step 2: Find One Win
When you feel like nothing is working, it helps to zoom in.
Ask yourself:
- What has gone right lately?
- What’s one small thing I followed through on?
- What’s something I’m proud of from the past week?
Momentum loves acknowledgment. When you recognize a win — even a small one — you remind yourself that you’re not stuck, you’re just in motion slower than usual. And that’s okay.
🧠 Step 3: Go Micro
When you’re stuck, your brain doesn’t want massive tasks. It wants clarity and simplicity.
So instead of “clean the office,” try:
- Clear off one surface.
- Set a 5-minute timer and file 5 papers.
- Write ONE sentence in that email you’ve been avoiding.
Write your micro-task in your planner. Then do it. Then check it off. ✅
That one act of follow-through can create a ripple effect.
🛠 Planner Tip: Use a Reset Layout
If your planner has been blank for a few days (or weeks), don’t beat yourself up. Use this chance to do a reset layout.
- 3 things you’re grateful for
- 1 thing you’re letting go of
- 1 thing you want to do today — just ONE
- A blank space to doodle, color, or brain-dump
Your planner doesn’t judge you. It’s here to serve you — even when your energy is low. If you want to add this into your planner permanently, I suggest our Reflect & Reset Insert!
💬 Final Thought: You’re Not Alone
Stuck happens. Motivation wavers. Life throws curveballs.
But the beautiful thing about being a planner is that you always have a tool to help you start again.
So if you’re feeling off track today, here’s your reminder:
You can start again. You can start small. And you’re not behind — you’re exactly where you need to be.
