GOALS π
Setting goals is like giving your week a purpose. Whether it’s conquering a work project, learning a new skill, or finally organizing that cluttered closet β having goals keeps you focused and motivated. Whether you do annual plans, quarterly, 12-week (my current fave), monthly, weekly, or you’re just setting them fresh every morning – it’s important to know what your goals are so that you can set your priorities within your to-do list. I recommend finding a way to keep those goals visible!
Top 3 Priorities π―
Identify the crucial tasks that demand your attention. These are your MVPs, the game-changers that can significantly impact your week. Tackling these first ensures a sense of accomplishment and clears the way for smoother sailing. These are your non-negotiable, top priority items. They likely align with your goals…which is why it’s important to keep those goals in mind when setting your priorities.
Deadlines β°
No one likes the last-minute scramble. Highlight those looming deadlines, and plan your tasks accordingly. Stay ahead of the game, and watch stress take a back seat. If you have a large project coming up, take some time to set some milestone dates and consider those as deadlines in your plans as well as the final deliverable date.
Appointments ποΈ
From virtual meetings to coffee catch-ups, appointments are the heartbeat of your week. Factor them into your plan, and you’ll be the maestro orchestrating a symphony of productivity. Including these in your weekly plan gives you a much better chance of making it to those appointments on time. Though I’ll admit, even I’ve been late to my own team meeting, friend, and it was on my calendar! I was literally sitting in front of my computer working on another task on my to-do list, and I just go so engrossed in it that I lost track of time. Give yourself grace – but if you think that might happen, set an alarm. π
Self-Care / Me Time πββοΈ
Don’t forget the most important person in your life β YOU! Schedule moments for self-care and me-time. It’s not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for a balanced and fulfilling week. It is important to leave room in your schedule for you to have some down-time – whether it’s first thing in the morning, taking a walk at lunch, or some quiet time at night, make space to take care of you.
Family / Friend Commitments π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦
Family and friends are the glue that holds life together. Plan for quality time with your loved ones, whether it’s a game night, a movie marathon, or just a heart-to-heart chat. I will often say that I don’t think we were created to do life alone; we have to make time for those people in our life that are most important.
House Projects π‘
Those lingering house projects won’t tackle themselves. Allocate time for home improvements, decluttering sessions, or any DIY adventures on your list. This will help keep your home projects progressing and not a constant on a perpetual honey-do list. π
Exercise Schedule πͺ
Physical health is wealth, my friend. Plan your exercise routine like a boss β whether it’s a morning run, a yoga session, or a dance party in your living room. If you’re as competitive with yourself as I am, you might even find yourself walking laps around your bed at night just so you meet your daily step goal. Seriously – that has happened.
Errands π
The mundane yet crucial tasks β errands! Plan them strategically to avoid a chaotic grocery run or last-minute dashes to the post office. Efficiency is the name of the game. My hubby does our meal planning and grocery shopping on Saturdays. It’s a task that I am grateful he has taken on, so I don’t (usually) complain if he didn’t get something I might have wanted. If it’s not on the list, he’s not going to know to get it. Do you have errands that you can delegate? Give it a try! I know, I know…giving up that control can be hard, but I promise, you will survive.
Bills / Payday π΅
Money matters, and so do bills. Keep track of due dates, and sync them with your payday. Financial harmony, here you come! Consider having a weekly financial check-up meeting with your significant other (or yourself) so you stay on track of your financial goals.
Meal Plan π²
Don’t let mealtime decisions stress you out. Plan your meals for the week, and grocery shopping becomes a breeze. Plus, it’s a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Like I said earlier, my husband typically does this task, but I do try to review it before he goes shopping in case he puts something wild and crazy on the plan, and to make sure he’s accounted for any plans we have for that week, which might eliminate a meal at home or add extra mouths to the table.
