You get to meet fellow consultants, exchange tips and tricks, and forge friendships that can last a lifetime. These connections are invaluable. Your crew becomes your support system, your motivators, and sometimes even your accountability partners. Plus, there’s nothing like meeting your online friends IRL!

I know I can’t wait to see ALL of these lovely ladies again next month! This will be my fourth leader retreat, second in-person conference (only the second in-person offered since I joined), and first director retreat! Meeting these ladies in person, in addition to all of our teammates, has been a game changer. It strengthened our relationships and improved our ability to learn from each other. Only seeing them once a year doesn’t feel like enough – but we treasure every moment that we are together!

You may even, one day, be asked to do the hard thing and TEACH at a conference!

Who doesn’t love being the first to know about new products and upcoming releases? Conferences often give attendees exclusive sneak peeks at what’s coming down the pipeline. You’ll be the first to see, touch, and try out new products, giving you a competitive edge. Sharing these exciting updates with your customers can also build buzz and anticipation, driving your sales even higher. Of course, I recommend just sharing snippets to build that excitement as opposed to a large photo dump. 😉 Plus, you’ve got to consider whatever rules your company may have about sharing early sneak peeks. But, it absolutely gives you an advantage in being able to plan out your social media content to get your followers engaged and excited for the big reveal.

Free Products and Swag: Because Who Doesn’t Love Freebies?

Let’s be real—free products and swag are always a hit. Conferences usually come with generous swag bags filled with new products, samples, and branded goodies. It’s a fantastic way to try out new items without dipping into your budget, and it’s also a fun way to feel appreciated by your company.

As a leader in my company, I know that finding fun swag for our teammates is something we get excited about. We aren’t just grabbing items off the shelf – we are brainstorming and considering what our teammates might find valuable and tying it into the overall conference theme.

Friend, if you are feeling like you are in a slump with your DS business, I encourage you to attend your conference. It is a total mood lifter and can help reignite that spark for you. Is it an investment? Absolutely. Have I always found it worth it? 100%. If making it to your conference this year isn’t in your budget, I encourage you to set sales goals for this next year that will allow you to be able to attend conference next year.

Whether you’ve hit a milestone, achieved a personal goal, or simply made progress, being celebrated in front of your peers is a powerful motivator. There’s always a bit of a competition to see who can have the longest ribbon attached to their name badge, right? I know I’ll have at least one new ribbon this year – one for my team! That is pretty exciting! I’ll have to make room on my memory board for another conference badge. 🙂

Fun and Adventure: Balance Work with Play

And let’s not forget the fun! Conferences often include social events, parties, and opportunities to explore new places. It’s the perfect blend of work and play, giving you a chance to let your hair down, have some fun, and make memories. This year, I’m setting myself up to actually create a memory book for our conference. I’ve already got pages set up with some fun layouts, and ideas for the pages I will need to create once we are there. I am not the world’s best scrapbooker, but these are memories I don’t want to forget…so I am being intentional with creating a journal to capture it all – from the conference notes to the fun photos, and even a place for my newest IRL friends to leave me encouraging messages – there’s a place for it all. 🙂
