How to Choose the Perfect Planner Cover

Today I’m going to help you decide which planner cover is the right one for you.

With four sizes and four styles, choosing the right planner cover might not be as straightforward as just picking the design that you like the best. I have planners in all four sizes and all four styles, but they have very different functions for me.

Step 1 – Decide what size will work best for your planner usage

We have three different sizes to choose from:

  • Small = 4 x 5.75” – Typically used as a wallet or journal.
  • Medium = 5 x 7” – This fits in most purses and is great for on the go.
  • Large = 5.25 x 8″ – When you need a little more than a Medium.
  • XL = 7 x 9.75” – This is great to leave on your desk, if you are going to fill it with a lot.

When you’re choosing your size, consider what you’re going to be using this specific planner to organize. You may end up with multiple planners in multiple sizes, but let’s start with your most important one first.

Will your planner be staying on your desk? Will you need to carry it with you?

I use the XL for my main planner with all my calendars in it, as well as the one that I maintain for my Direct Sales business. I use a medium for my self care, journaling,  gardening, and financial planners. I like the small for my meal & grocery + cash and coupon to toss in my tote on grocery days.

Step 2 – Choose Your Cover Style

With four cover styles, you can find the one that is the perfect fit for you. I recommend the Classic, if you just can’t decide which one to start with, but let’s chat about all four of them.

Trifolio-N-Go

The Trifolio-N-Go Cover now comes in both Small and Medium; it can hold two to three inserts. It features two bands in the cover (jump bands can help you expand to more inserts), three pockets, and a flap to wrap around the front cover. This is the only cover that features this flap, and in my opinion, this makes it perfect for use as a wallet. Pair it with a card wallet (which can fit in the front pocket or the larger of the two inner pockets) and a wristlet for the perfect on-the-go wallet. You can even add a grommet on the Small Trifolio-N-Go for a reinforced connection spot for the Wristlet!

Interchangeable

The Interchangeable Cover is available in both Medium and XL; it is the perfect choice if you want to change up the look of your planner easily, without having to swap out all of the “guts” of your planner! Just zip off the front and zip on a new coordinating front cover for a totally new look! If you think you’ll do this frequently, I suggest getting a more neutral back cover to allow more flexibility with matching your front cover to it.

This cover has four elastic bands included, and can hold four to eight inserts (using jump bands to expand beyond the first four). It has a removable front cover, and four pockets, plus a pen loop to hold your favorite PenGems pen!

Classic Pro

Until recently, I was using the Classic Pro cover for my main planner, but fell in love with a design that only came in the Classic… So of course I had to swap it out!

The Classic Pro has a sleek feel to it and is a great option for your business planner. This is the cover I would choose if I was working in the office again. It’s perfect for holding a calendar, notes inserts to keep track of your meeting actions, and there’s even room for a notepad in the back.

This cover features two elastic bands and can hold 2-4 inserts. It has two pockets, plus business or credit card slots in the front interior. Of course, there’s also a pen loop for your PenGems pen.

Classic

I already told you that the Classic is my favorite. It has a reinforced spine, making it a little boxier than the Classic Pro. It’s more book-like and has a bit more structure to it.

Inside, you’ll find six pockets, a pen loop, and four elastic bands. This cover can easily fit those four to eight inserts, which is what makes it perfect for your primary planner. Make sure you add those FREE jump bands to your cart when you order four or more inserts!

Step 3 – Pick out the Perfect Design!

It’s time to let your personality shine, my friend! With new catalog launches twice a year, plus seasonal releases, you are sure to find a planner cover design that will make you smile when you look at it!

I always say that when my planner is pretty, I am more likely to use it. This applies to both the inside AND the outside for me! Will you choose a solid color or a fun print? Something whimsical or classic? When you see the one, you’ll just know it’s the one for you!

That’s all there is to it!

Hopefully this helped you choose the cover size and style that is right for you!

Before you go wild over all the planner cover designs, make sure you leave me a comment to tell me what size cover you think is right for you and why!

I could probably justify any of them. I have a small in my purse, which is great, but I think that XL will be my primary one for home. I’m sure I’ll change things up. A work in progress.
